On Thursday 18 March 2021 at 3.00 p.m. CET Stek offers a webinar for attorneys from law firms outside the Netherlands on competition litigation in the Netherlands. Simon Boersen of Stek’s Competition Litigation Team will provide an overview of relevant procedural aspects and an update on recent developments.
Already for years, the Netherlands is seen as an attractive jurisdiction for plaintiffs to bring damages actions following a cartel decision of the European Commission. Civil actions include proceedings following the EC decisions in Air Cargo, Gas insulated switchgear and Trucks. This has resulted in case law that pushes the front lines of civil antitrust litigation. And there is more on the horizon, with the advancement of consumer claims and class actions.
In approximately 1.5 hours, Ruben and Simon will present:
- topics of private international law and Dutch civil procedure;
- practical insights into how Dutch courts handle major cartel damages actions;
- the effects of EU law and the ECJ case-law on competition litigation in the Netherlands.
